PARENTING PLAN ASSESSMENTS
When parents separate, they may have difficulty with child-related matters such as final decision-making authority on major issues (“legal custody”) and parenting time (“access”), as well as other issues related to co-parenting their children. When parents are unable to settle these matters, a parenting plan assessment (also known as a custody and access assessment) may be ordered under Section 30 of the Children’s Law Reform Act. Marcie Goldhar may be appointed by the courts or may be designated by a consent order to carry out a Parenting Plan Evaluation (formerly knows as custody and access assessment) and make recommendations to the court and the parents.
PARENTING CO-ORDINATION
Separation agreements, court orders and parenting plans often outline parenting time and decision making responsibility in detail, however, there are often small but important aspects that are not included which cause great stress and conflict between parents. As a Parenting Coordinator, Marcie Goldhar strives to implement and execute the Parenting Plan to ensure that the children are protected from the ongoing conflict.
THERAPY FOR PARENT-CHILD CONTACT PROBLEMS
In the case where a child may become estranged from a parent or family member, Marcie Goldhar provides reintegration therapy to help bring a family together again or help nurture a parent-child relationship. All members of the family will be involved in the therapy at the discretion of the therapist with such goals as building healthier alignments, promoting critical-thinking skills, and improving strained parent-child relationships. Such therapy, sometimes referred to as reintegration or reunification therapy, may also be geared towards gradually reintroducing a child to a parent with whom they have lost contact.
VOICE OF THE CHILD REPORT (VOC)
VOC is a brief report focussed on the Views and Preferences of the children. As part of the Voice of the Child Report, Marcie Goldhar interviews each parent in order to understand the context of the issues at hand. Marcie Goldhar meets with the child/ren to ensure that their expressed views are independent and consistent. Upon request, a report will be prepared to parents and counsel.
